…clearly one of the finest in the world

Tempesta’s third Fasch CD just keeps making the press happy, with new rave reviews and lovely feature pieces popping up each day.

We shared a round of European reviews with you in December. This month, the US press weighs in, with enthusiastic reviews in American Record Guide, Early Music America Magazine and Fanfare. We also garnered a lovely podcast feature from the radio show Harmonia and a big feature article in Early Music America Magazine about Tempesta and the whole Fasch project, beginning to end.

  • “The ensemble has now entered its second decade and is clearly one of the finest in the world. They perform with abundant energy, immaculate ensemble, impeccable intonation, and an undeniable sense of purpose, savoring every note as they plead the case for this unjustly neglected repertoire. Other adjectives that come to mind are: animated, colorful, and flexible. This release, like its two predecessors, has been realized with commitment and enthusiasm. Few could have made the case for Fasch as elegantly and as eloquently as Tempesta di Mare. They have fulfilled the task brilliantly!” Fanfare Magazine.
  • “The articulation is crisp; and the overall momentum, particularly in the overtures, is brisk and engaging- just the right thing for this repertory. Gwyn Roberts’s recorder playing in the concerto is very sensitive, especially in the Largo, and magnificently virtuosic in the fast movements. Stone’s lute playing is very fine. The Andante of the lute concerto is particularly expressive…”  American Record Guide.
  • “This recording has much to recommend it: the vigor and precision of Tempesta di Mare, the fact that four of the six pieces on the disc are premiere recordings, and the sheer verve, eclecticism and playfulness of Fasch’s compositions.” Early Music America Magazine.
